Introducing All The Fuzzy Boys and Girls

Octavian was a beautiful Pearle Merle. For almost a year Octavian and Nero shared a cage together until I introduced Constantine in with them. Octavian was always the Alpha of the group. Clearly showing his dominence over the rest. He was by far the calmest of the boys and had a certain wisdom to his face. He acted older somehow. Octavian was about 10 inches not including his tail. I've never had a rat that hated being in a cage as much as this little bugger lol. He couldn't wait to leave his cage to venture around the house, exploring every room and its wonders. He was brave, and had courage that knew no bounds, my handsome man. Octavian was the first rat that I experienced his passing. About 3 weeks short of his second birthday, I never noticed any symptoms, there was no breathing issues I could see. Then in one day he was taken away from me. Ocavian died in my arms, my beautiful fuzz baby. I'll always love my minnie muscle man <3

My tubby cutie Nero, was a variegated berkshire rat. Octavian's brother, who lived to be 2 and a half years old. Nero was a very mellow, calm boy. Never aggressive and there was always such peace in his eyes. He always came off as my shy sweet baby. Nero loved to eat and he loved to sleep. This leading to his very tubby elderly years lol. Nero was also about 10 inches not including his tail. Nero enjoyed his walks but never ventured to far from his home, satisfied with the safety inside. Nero had one of the sweetest faces I have ever seen on a rat, if there was ever a poster child for the innocent, his face would have been on it. In Nero's elderly days he loved a good snuggle and I was glad to give it to him. Nero developed a Respiratory infection and was on Antibiotics for several weeks. When his condition worsened and he started gasping for air I made the choice to put him to sleep. I'll always miss my chubby bum <3

Constantine, my 3rd rat whom lived with Octavian and Nero for a period of time was a dark beige Bareback. I had Nero and octavian for quite a few months, I went into PetSmart to pick up some supplies and wandered by the fuzzies. I was contemplating a 3rd rat with my boyfriend and we looked over the baby rats, then I noticed an older rat by himself in another cage, a "not as cute as the babies" one would say. He looked so unhappy and stared at me the entire time. I asked to see him. He snuggled up into my arms and didnt seem frightened at all and he stared at me.. I knew he was begging me to take him home..those eyes.. how could I refuse? Constantine was a sweet heart, our brave warrior man we'd call him. he had gone through a lot in his life and took it all with pride. I miss his antics and how much he loved plastic bags! lol. Constantine lived 2 years and 3 months when I eventually had to put him to sleep from a severe respiratory infection.

Abel was an agouti mismarked hooded rat. I got both him and his brother Cain, from a friend whom on impulse bought 2 rats and quickly decided she didn't want them. Sigh how many people do this? They were extremely unsocialized and I have gained some scars from their uncertainty of me. After a lot of patience and months of effort these boys became 2 sweet angels. Abel was curious and full of excitement. He loved to explore and couldn't wait until that cage door opened up for him to run. Abel loved to climb, a few times I even caught him in the small garbage can! Abel and Cain had a very strong brotherly bond and you couldn't catch them in their cage not snuggling. Abel became very sick a bit after he was a year old. He recovered quickly the first time but became ill once again a few weeks after. The antibiotics this time did not take effect and sadly he passed away in the middle of the night, it as one of the hardest passings I've ever experienced. I miss you sweet crazy boy<3

Cain was Abels brother and he was aswell an agouti mismarked hooded rat. Cain was a bit more shy but loved to wander and explore on his own terms. After his brother past he took it real heard. Cain became my snuggle baby and I think he loved every minute of it. He was so gentle and sweet, definatly among one of the sweetest rats I've ever had. Cain and Abel LOVED cardboard tunnels. The Chewbular tubes I went through every 2 weeks and they'd rip them to shreds and carry the pieces around. Cain and Abel seemed to want attention a lot more then any of my other boys did but I think this came from the lack of having human attention before I ended up with them. When Cain was about a year and a half old he developed a very severe respiratory infection which was treated a few times with antibiotics. In the end the infection won and Cain began to suffer greatly. I took Him in to be put asleep. These 2 boys are my biggest regret as the left this world too early. I miss them everyday.

Willard was a Silvered black rat and was my heart rat. I got Willard when he was somewhere between 4 and 6 weeks old. Willard spent most of his childhood sick from re-occuring lung infections but thankfully pulled through quick everytime. The illness finally stopped coming back after a few months. He was my puggy boy who loved to eat and loved to play. I got Willard along with his brother Legion whom loved eachother dearly. These 2 little boys were a handfull to keep an eye on, even venturing up and down our stairs to explore the rest of the house. I cannot explain the bond that I had with Willard or why it happened, when I saw him, I knew he was just mine. Willard and Legion often slept in bed with us snuggling up to our legs. When Willard was about a month away from turning two he developed a pituitary tumor which is located in the brain. I cryed so hard and I thought my world was ending, it was like loosing a child. Willard was finally put to sleep around 2 years of age. Not a day goes by where I do not think of him.

Legion was Willards brother and he was a black hooded rat. I got them both from a lady in Ottawa who had a mommy that had some babies. I fell in love with them the second I held them, they were so kind and sweet and not afraid of people at all! Legion was a little devil exploring everything, and he loved to run! They were my most active boys I think. These two boys were the best with people, venturing up to new strangers in the house and hopping on their laps to say hello. Legion loved to store food, so much so that sometimes I'd find mounds of food stored in my clothes drawer lol. Legion was extremely territorial which made it hard to introduce him to any rat after Willard passed. Shortly after Willard, Legion developed the same symptoms of Willard and our sweet baby had to be put to sleep about a month after he turned 2. These were two very incredible boys that I thank what ever lead me to them everyday.

The Ladies

My two ladies, this is Milly a light beige bareback. I got Milly after a friend of ours didnt have the means to take care of her, her cage mates had passed away and she was alone. Milly was a "go go go" on the move girl but started out a bit shy. She loved to sleep bundled up in my clothes in my drawer. This little feisty girl is tiny but makes up for it with attitude lol. She's sweet and kind but don't expect to hold her too long as she's always on the move! Milly loved to store food where she slept so I always found a few mounds of food in funny places. Milly has a sweet little baby face and gorgeous big buggy eyes! lol. Milly passed away just a few months away from being 2. Milly went into gasping fits and we took her in to be put to sleep. Afterwards, we found out that Milly had an enlarged heart, she was taken too soon from heart failure. I'll miss her feisty ways and that sweet little angel baby face.

My other little lady was Maggie, she is a mink mis-marked hooded rat. Because I knew Milly needed a friend I searched on a rat forum for a friend. I picked up Maggie in Ottawa. Maggie was roughly about the same age as Milly and can be a shy one aswell. Maggie loved to eat and loved to snuggle. One time she even snuggled up and fell asleep on my face while I was laying down LOL. She gets spurts of energy and then goes down for a nap. She has big ears for her little face which is adorable. Maggie and Milly became very close and you can tell they loved eachother like sisters. Maggie loves to have her head and back rubbed and enjoys a good boggling session lol. Milly and Maggie like finding themselves into silly places and stealing paper. Maggie loved to bath herself and feels the strong urge to keep us clean aswell lol. I discovered 2 tumors on Maggie which were basic benign mammary tumors. Shortly after Maggie developed a pituitary tumor and after about a week and a half on Prednisone Maggie passed away in my arms one night. I'll miss your big ears and your sweet ways.
